Fernando Young grew up in Rio de Janeiro and, at 17 years old started working as photo assistant to Luís Garrido, at Casa da Foto. After a few years, he moved to Spain to study photography at the Escuela de Fotografía de Andalucía. Back in Brazil, Fernando worked as a camera assistant in cinema productions until 2009, when he started leaning into Cinematography in commissioned and fiction projects. In 2013, he won a Latin Grammy for Best Album Cover for Abraçaço by Caetano Veloso, in collaboration with art director Tonho Quinta-feira. For the past years, Fernando has been in between still and moving photography, whether in commissioned, dramaturgy or documentary projects.
